Who must Register?

Registration applies to Transmission Customers/Purchasing-Selling Entities, Operating/Security Entities, (transmission providers, control areas, and security coordinators), OASIS Node Information Providers, and those wishing observer (visitor) status on an OASIS Node (s).  Registration is not required to view information contained in the TSIN Registration database. 

All Entities must enter a "New" registration even though they may have registered under the old OASIS or NERC Tagging processes.  Doing so enables us to build a "clean" TSIN Registration Database.  (In most cases you will be able to use the same Entity Code as previously registered.)

For registration purposes each Entity Type is defined below:

Transmission Customer/Purchasing-Selling Entities (TC/PSE)

Any eligible company or business entity (or its designated agent) that can or does execute a transmission service agreement or can or does receive transmission service.

Operating/Security Entities (O/SE)

Transmission Provider (TP)

A public utility company or entity (or its designated agent) that owns, operates, or controls facilities used for the transmission of electric energy in interstate commerce.

Control Area (CA)

An electric system or systems, bounded by interconnection metering and telemetry, capable of controlling generation to maintain its interchange schedule with other Control Areas and contributing to frequency regulation of the Interconnection.

Security Coordinator (SC)

An entity that provides the security assessment and emergency operations coordination for a group of control areas. Security Coordinators do not participate in the wholesale or retail merchant functions.

OASIS Node Information Provider

A Transmission Provider or agent to whom the Transmission Provider has delegated the responsibility of meeting any of the requirements of providing the information system to support OASIS requirements for a set of Transmission Providers.

Observer

An entity able to view information on OASIS nodes.

Again, "New" registrations are required for all Entities.
